The three churches in the parish came together on October 15 to celebrate 70 years of the church of St Michael and St Helen serving the community. The patronal festival service was led by the Rev Maureen Browell, one time-team vicar of the church. Among the congregation was Jean, who was brought up at St Helen's, Fenay Bridge, the church that closed to enable St Michael and St Helen be built. She is the last of those who moved across Penistone Road to worship here. Members of the church are still heavily committed to practical service; the Friday morning Food Share project is greatly appreciated by many people. We give thanks for the support it receives from schools, businesses and the other churches in the parish.
