SHARING GOD'S LOVE AND JUSTICE IN THE COMMUNITY
St Michael and St Helen's is a small church with a big heart, seeking to share God's love and justice in the community. We hold a Food Share each Friday from 9.30am until noon and we are used widely by the community.
The church is the amalgamation of two ‘daughter’ churches of All Hallows’ which were on Somerset Road, Almondbury and Penistone Road, Fenay Bridge.
The foundation stone was laid in 1953 and the church was dedicated in 1955. It was built to serve a growing, newly built post Second World War housing estate on Fernside and a development planned for Quarry Hill.
This multi-purpose building has excellent facilities with full disabled access. The church is host to various groups including Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and young people with disabilities on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
There is also a wide variety of internal and external events for all ages. We warmly welcome all those who enter, whether to join us in worship or for social events.

SENDING AID TO UKRAINE
A busy two days at St Michael and St Helen’s sorting and boxing donations for Ukraine. The response to a request for help from the parish was fantastic! We thank all who donated, volunteered to sort bags, pack boxes and provide refreshments.
Three van loads of aid were taken to the Ukrainian Association’s distribution point in Halifax in what was a tremendous effort. We continue to hold in our prayers Ukraine and the bordering countries taking in thousands of refugees.
