A busy week at St Lucius' culminated in a well-attended and well appreciated Choral Evensong, sung by a choir of Huddersfield University students.

Under conductor Daniel, Stanford's B flat setting of the canticles and Mozart's motet, Ave Verum Corpus, were sung by soprano Stella, Jo, Harrison and Isaac. A hot supper followed.

A three-day community flower festival had come to a close the previous day. More than 20 people responded to the invitation to display hobby-based flower arrangements in church.

Pastimes represented range from golf and fishing to bee-keeping and needlework. One exhibitor chose the theme of crosswords and quizzes while Farnley Tyas WI opted for 'Jam and Jerusalem'. All the displays showed great imagination.

The hard work of the organisers was rewarded by a surplus of £1,600 which will go towards developing the heating and audio systems for the community space at St Lucius'. Our thanks go to all those who helped, participated and attended.
