![]() By Kath Hinchliffe St Lucius' churchyard welcomed six very enthusiastic pupils and their teacher this month to do a spot of bird watching. The children are part of Farnley Tyas First School's Vision and Values group which spans all years. Unfortunately, the birds, except for a blackbird and a pigeon, were having a snooze that afternoon. But the youngsters were not downhearted. They enjoyed learning how to use binoculars and helped to put our new signs in place throughout the churchyard. The signs, on reclaimed slate, were painted by the village's U3A’s Art Group, which meets at the Bowling Club, under the leadership of our own Margaret Hicks. Our thanks go to the children and Mrs Rebecca Leijnse Class three teacher.

![]() The Parish of Almondbury with Farnley Tyas is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Incumbent. The Rev Robert Savage comes to us from St Luke's Morton and St Mary's Riddlesden, where he was a curate. He will be licensed on June 29. Before his ordination in June 2022, he worked for nearly 20 years as a secondary school music teacher. He also served as a governor of two primary schools. As a musician, he has regularly performed with different groups and bands. And he is no stranger to church organs. Rob and his wife studied music at the University of Huddersfield and, following in their steps, their two children are also music undergraduates. |
